Dr Guru Prasad Mahapatra or popularly known “Guru” was our classmate in CPS/SSS at JNU during M.A days.He was one of the soft spoken and very lively persons among us. Most of our time in JNU days was spent in the Central Library with classmates. However Guru was an intuitive genius and not very regular to the library. But he made it to Civil Services with his innate quality of sharp memory and analytical skill.
He was always available for his classmates/friends wherever he was posted. Being from Gujarat cadre, he arranged many things whenever any of us visited Gujarat. After posting in Delhi, we met on many occasions like marriage, get-togethers or even at his residence and everywhere it was the same warmth and simplicity as it was during JNU days.
With the unfortunate and untimely demise of Guru it is a terrible loss to all of us. He will be always remembered in his bureaucratic circle for his sacrifice while discharging his duty. But for all of us he will remain in our hearts and minds for his lovely smile and open heart to help. He was the symbol of modesty, kindness and virtue. We will always miss him for the rest of our lives.
We pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and strength to his family members to bear with his loss. Goodbye dear Guru
